Blue Mountains of New South Wales Australia

The Blue Mountains is a mountainous region located in New South Wales, Australia. The Mountains are dissected plateau carved in sandstone bedrock. A large part of the Blue Mountains is listed in the World Heritage Site as the Greater Blue Mountains which consist of seven national park areas and a conservation reserve.

The mountain is named as Blue Mountain due to the blue tinge of the range that is viewed from a distance. The tinge is believed to be caused by mie scattering which occurs when incoming ultraviolet radiation is scattered by particles within the atmosphere creating a blue-grayish colour to any distant objects, including mountains and clouds. One of the main natural disasters of the area is bush fires and severe storms. The Greater Blue Mountain area has 400 varieties of animals, rare species of mammals. The Blue Mount is now famous as one of the popular tourist destinations in Australia with good food and accommodation facilities.

Marble Mountains Vietnam

Marble Mountains is a cluster of five marble and limestone hills located Da Nang city in Vietnam.  The five 'mountains' are named after the five elements - Hoa for Fire, Kim for Metal, Tho for Earth, Thuy for Water and Moc for Wood. The place is a famous tourist destinations as it attracts the people with Buddhist sanctuaries, numerous tunnels, caves, and the visitors can climb to the mountain peaks. The Marble Mountains are famous for stone sculpture making and stone-cutting crafts. The place is home to several Buddhist and Hindu grottoes. Thuy son is the only visitors accessible marble mountain from where they can have a great view of the area and other marble mountains.

Chocolate Hills Bohol Philippines

Chocolate Hills is a geological formation in Bohol Province, Philippines. The hills are covered in green grass that turns brown during the dry season. Due to the choco brown color of the green grass during summer, the hills got the name Chocolate Hills.  Chocolate Hills is one of the famous tourist attractions of Bohol. The Hills have been declared the country's Third National Geological Monument. The Chocolate Hills is also featured in the provincial flag of the province to symbolize the abundance of natural attractions.

The Chocolate Hills are cone-shaped hills made of grass covered with limestone. Mound-shaped hills are scattered by the hundreds throughout the towns of Bohol which make the hills odd and attractive. The hills are separated by flat plains and contain numerous caves and springs. There are different legends which the people believed to be the cause of formation of Chocolate Hills.

Banff National Park is Canada's oldest national park in the Rocky Mountains.  The park is located in the province of Alberta and consist of mountainous terrain, with numerous glaciers and ice fields, dense coniferous forest, and alpine landscapes.

Mount Popa Taungkalat Monastery Myanmur Burma

Mount Popa located in central Burma (Myanmur) in the Pegu Range. |The mount is formed by the volcano and is 1518 meters above the sea level. The place is known for its picturesque Popa Taungkalat monastery. The shrine Popa Taungkalat is home to Mahagiri Nats or spirits.  Mostly believers are the main tourists visiting this Buddhist pilgrimage.  The visitors and tourists of Mount Popa are serious believers, who come here to make sure their relationship with spirits remains positive. 

The Mount has many legends, one of them is about a brother and sister Mahagiri (Great Mountain) nats, from the kingdom of Tagaung at the upper reaches of the Irrawaddy, who sought refuge from King Thinligyaung of Bagan. Their wish was granted and they were enshrined on the Mount. Mount Popa is considered the abode of Burma's most powerful Nats and as such is the most important nat worship center. It has therefore been called Burma's Mount Olympus. The top of Popa Taung Kalat is beautiful with panoramic view of nature and the ancient city of Bagan. The place is filled with flowering plants, trees and herbs as the soil is very fertile due to volcanic ash.

Kilimanjaro National Park Tanzania

Kilimanjaro National Park is located in Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania near the city of Moshi.  The park covers the whole of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding montane forest.  The Kilimanjaro National park is administered by the Tanzania National Parks Authority. The park was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.  

Kilimanjaro National Park is the home to different species of faunas. A variety of animals can be found in the park including  tree hyrax, the grey duiker,  bushbuck and red duiker,  Cape buffalo , blue monkey, , bushbaby, leopards and elephants. Mount Kilimanjaro is famous for adventers like Climbing, Hiking and Mountaineering.

Preikestolen or Pulpit Rock Norway

Preikestolen is popularly known as Pulpit Rock or Preacher's Pulpit is located in Norway.  This is one of the famous and most visited natural tourist attractions in Norway.  The Pulpit Rock cliff was formed during the ice age when the edges of the glacier reached the cliff. 

A trip to Preikestolen from the closest car park takes about 3–4 hours for a round-trip hike. The walk to Preikestolen is very steep in places. Walk is not recommended in winter and spring when there is snow and ice, and the track may be slippery. The best season to hike the trail is from April to October. Sturdy shoes and rain gear are recommended for the hike.

Matterhorn Mountain

The Matterhorn derives its name from the German words Matte which means 'Meadow' and Horn refers to 'Peak'. The mountain has a pyramidal shape with four faces facing the four compass points. It is a mountain in the mountain range of Pennine Alps on the border between Switzerland and Italy. 

The  Matterhorn is an isolated mountain and was one of the last great Alpine peaks to be climbed. It is considered as the deadliest peaks in the Alps.

The Ten Peaks located in Banff Park are Mount Fay, Mount Little, Mount Bowlen, Mount Tonsa, Mount Perren, Mount Allen, Mount Tuzo, Deltaform Mountain, Neptuak Mountain and Wenkchemna Peak.
