Coromandel Peninsula New Zealand

Coromandel Peninsula located in New Zealand is part of the Waikato Region and Thames-Coromandel District that forms a natural barrier. The peninsula features steep and hilly, covered with temperate rain forest. The area shows signs of previous volcanism and geothermal activity is present on the Peninsula, with hot springs in several places specially at Hot Water Beach. The place is known for its hardrock gold mining and kauri industries. Now Coromandel Peninsula is a famous Ecotourist Centre.

Waitomo Glowworm Caves New Zealand

 The Waitomo Glowworm Caves is a cave at Waitomo on the North Island of New Zealand. This species are found mostly in New Zealand and are around the size of an average mosquito. These Caves are believed to be over two million years old.  The cave is known for its population of glowworms or Arachnocampa luminosa. This species are found exclusively in New Zealand and around the size of an average mosquito.

The walls of the caves are covered with a variety of fungi including the cave flower.  The common animals found inside the caves are insects.  The legend of Waitomo Caves began with the creation of limestone at the bottom of the ocean.
